Background
Andy has over 35 years’ experience in the civil construction and mining industries and was Managing Director of Andy’s Earthmovers Pty Ltd (AEM) until its merger with Emeco and Orionstone in late March 2017. Andy was a key driver of the deal with Emeco and Orionstone which was a very successful $680m merger. Over the course of his career, Andy has gained a reputation for providing innovative ideas and custom solutions to his customers. He is regularly consulted by mining companies world-wide.
AEM was started by Andy in 1984 with the purchase of a single bulldozer to serve the local civil and mining industries. Andy grew the business to a significant size which was predominantly comprised of low hour, late model Caterpillar fleet. Andy sold the business to Emeco International in 2006. He stayed on as Victorian General Manager until 2010 when he bought the business back from Emeco. The company then experienced significant growth (from $20 million per annum to well over $100 million per annum) and prior to the merger it employed over 200 people. AEM had a rental fleet which consisted of more than 290 items of low hour, late model predominantly Caterpillar equipment.
The expansion of AEM included the further development of heavy haulage (originally established in 2000), tyre and innovative lighting solutions with operations in every Australian state and territory. The company earned a reputation for being a leading provider to the mining industry and major civil projects.
